Sandy Expo is an infill station that was opened on December 13, 2006. This gives the station a slightly more unusual design, including side platforms a rarity on TRAX and no Park & Ride Lot. The station purely serves local shopping centers. The side platforms are both relatively narrow and have two canopies (that are half the size of the normal ones found on island platforms). The Station is just north of the grade crossing with 9400 S and the other interesting feature is that the Sandy Civic Center-bound platform is directly alongside a bike path that fallows the rail right-of-way providing station access. South of the station a sound wall separates the tracks from nearby houses, depictions on the sound wall illustrate the history of transportation in Sandy.
